 CONFINED SPACE – LEVEL 1

 THIS GIVES THE STUDENT TRAINING IN THE FOLLOWING:

  • Understanding Regulations as they apply to ConfinedSpaces (Provincial and/or Federal)
  • Recognizing Confined Spaces
  • Duties of the entrant (the person doing the work) 
  • Duties of the attendant (person ensuring they are safe)
  • Duties of the Confined SpaceSupervisor
  • Duties of Rescue (either third party or rescue team)
  • How the permit works, how to fill it out, and why
  • How gases are tested and why they are tested in a specific order
  • Air Quality Monitoring, what the symbols on the air quality monitor mean, care and use
  • Signs and symptoms of over-exposure to common gases and environmental hazards
  • Types of ventilation
  • Types of hazards and controls
  • Types of rescue extraction with emphasis on non-entry rescue planning as well as a rescue in for horizontal confined space (when the person next to you needs help)
  • What TWA, STEL, IDLH mean and where to find this information
