Ladder Safety Course Description

Optional Telecommunications Specific Module Available 

This course provides information about the safe use of portable and fixed ladders. The intent of the course is to provide the learner with information about the hazards involved with the use of ladders and control methods that will greatly reduce these hazards. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements at both a provincial and federal level. 

Learner objectives are to: 

  • Understand provincial and federal regulations
  • Understand best practices regulating overhead work
  • Understand hazards associated with Working at Heights, and how to control the hazards (including fall protection systems when outside the ladder profile)
  • Describe the types of ladders and their use, capacities, and safety considerations
  • Understand strand hazards and appropriate control measures
  • Understand pole and strand structural evaluation and testing
  • Specify proper guidelines for ladder care and maintenance

Optional Telecommunication Specific Module (Bell Canada Approved): 

  • Identify hazards related to the general use of ladders in telecommunications, and how to control these hazards
  • Understand the types of poles and their associated hazards
  • Understand the proper placement of ladder on strand and pole
  • Relevant items from CSA Z11-12(R2017)

Other:

  • Where applicable a review of the client’s specific policies and procedures will be included
  • Where applicable a review of Bell Canada Working at Heights module – ladder specific will be included
  • Where applicable a review of client’s specific rescue plans will be included 

 

Length: 4 Hours

Regular Cost $125.00 per person

Student Cost $100.00 per person

A student is anyone in (or returning to/starting in the fall) High School, College, University, Private Skills Training School, or who is participating in their apprenticeship for their respective trade.

Day rates are available for companies booking full classes. Additional fees such as travel costs may be on top of the training fee depending on distance.
